English Language Day 2025

The Department of English in collaboration with IQAC celebrated English Language Day on 23rd April 2025 with great enthusiasm and fervour. The event aimed at inspiring students to appreciate the beauty of English language and literature. On this occasion, which happens to be the birth and death anniversary of one of the greatest English playwrights and poets, William Shakespeare, the department paid tribute to the Bard of Avon through various activities. The department released its Wall Magazine on Shakespeare’s Plays and their Film Adaptations. This was followed by a display of the model of the Globe Theatre made by the students. The programme included spectacular stage performances by students in honour of the playwright. Students performed famous scenes from Macbeth, The Merchant of Venice and Julius Caesar. The department had also organised a prize distribution ceremony for the Poetry Writing Competition that was held on this occasion. Winners were awarded trophies and certificates recognizing their creativity. Certificates of participation were presented to all participants. The English Language Day Celebration was a resounding success promoting creativity and providing students of literature with an opportunity to savour the beauty of Shakespearean plays beyond text books.
